Heartsaver CPR/AED
This class is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills. Skill sheets check off apply.

Heartsaver CPR/AED plus First-Aid
This class covers everything in our Heartsaver class, plus the following: First aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, environmental emergencies & preventing illness and injury.

BLS Provider CPR w/ Credential Card
This BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics; covering adult, child and infant CPR and AED use, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. Proper airway adjunct, BVM use and more. Skill sheets and written tests apply.

Friends & Family Course CPR/AED
This class is a video-based, instructor-led – teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.
*Friends & Family CPR is for people who want to learn CPR, but DO NOT need a CPR credential from the American Heart Association to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning the training on how to save a life.

Fire Extinguisher Training
Hands-on live fire extinguisher training is given to an audience to explain how to use a fire extinguisher, the different types of extinguishers available. We will let you practice once the education part is completed. We come to you!

Firefighter Visits
Our firefighters can participate in a variety of events going on within the community.
School Visits
Life and Life Safety information is presented to the students. We will work with the teacher to come up with the best lesson for their particular class. The objective is to allow children to encounter firefighters is a positive setting, with the hope that they’ll not hide during a fire. The presentation wraps-up with a tour of the fire engine and spraying our fire hose! We will leave activity bags for each student to take home, which includes fire safety activities.
Drive-By School Visits
In lieu of in-person visits, we offer drive-by parades for students. A few fire trucks will get together and drive by the students with lights and sirens. Sparky the Fire Dog may even make an appearance. We will leave activity bags for each student to take home, which includes fire safety activities.
Residential Fire Safety – Coming in 2025!
The Residential Fire Safety Program, provided by the Iona McGregor Fire District, is designed to help homeowners minimize fire risks and enhance safety within their homes. This program covers a wide range of fire safety topics, both inside and outside the home. Its primary goal is to equip residents with the essential knowledge and resources to prevent fires and to ensure they are better prepared in the event of an emergency.
Fire & Life Safety Discussions
Educational presentations on things such as Hurricane Preparedness, Brush fire Preparedness, Home Safety, Smoke Alarms, Escape Plans, etc.
Slip & Fall Safety
PowerPoint presentation on the importance of falls prevention, managing health, risks for falls, lifestyle behaviors and identifying hazards in and around the home.

Kitchen Fire Safety
Blood Pressure Screenings
Stop at any of our five fire stations to have your blood pressure checked.

Sharps Program
Collection of used needles at every Iona McGregor Fire Station in sealed “Sharps” containers. Replacement containers are provided to residents at no charge.

File of Life
IMFD provides File of Life envelopes to residents upon request. The File of Life is a form stored in a magnetic envelope which is intended to be placed on the refrigerator. Once completed, the form provides medical information on allergies, medications, and more to emergency medical providers. The form can be completed for up to two people.

Pet Finder Window Stickers
IMFD provides pet finder stickers to residents upon request. Stickers should be placed on window/s. The stickers alert first responders about how many pets are in the home and what kind.
Summer Safety Campaign
Our Summer Safety Campaign kicks off before the end of each school year, focusing on essential summer safety topics. We cover important issues like hot car safety for children and pets, drowning prevention, swim safety, and the importance of staying hydrated. Our team visits every school in the district to deliver educational sessions and distribute helpful materials and swag to students and parents.
Safe Haven
“Safe Haven” is a safety net for both the mother and the newborn infant. It allows mothers, fathers or whoever is in possession of an unharmed newborn, approximately seven days old or less, to leave them with someone at Safe Havens: any hospital, staffed fire rescue station, or staffed emergency medical service station, with no questions asked, totally anonymous, free from fear of prosecution.
Safe Place
Safe Place is a national youth outreach and prevention program for young people under the age of 18 (up to 21 years of age in some communities) in need of immediate help and safety. As a collaborative community prevention initiative, Safe Place designates businesses and organizations as Safe Place locations, making help readily available to youth in communities across the country. Safe Place locations include: libraries, YMCAs, fire stations, public buses, various businesses, and social service facilities.
Equipment and Apparatus Tour
Equipment and apparatus tours are presented to an audience at events, schools, or fire stations throughout the District. Children have a chance to become acquainted with the apparatus, fire hose, medicine, and tools through kinesthetic learning. Children will have the opportunity to ask the firefighters questions.
Fire Station Tours
Fire Station tours are offered at our fire stations. Appointments are required. Participants are led through the stations to see where the firefighter’s live for their 24-hour shift.
Parade Participation
Fire apparatus are able to participate at parade events throughout the community.
Santa Delivery
Your IMFD firefighter’s can delivery Santa and Mrs. Claus to holiday events on the fire truck.
Open House
Once a year, IMFD will host an Open House available to the public. Multiple agencies in SWFL are invited to highlight the work they do. Free food and kids activities.
Camp Brave Heart
This camp is the first Girls’ Empowerment Camp to come to SWFL. Young girls are given the chance to interact with females in the fire service from different departments. The camp gives the campers the opportunity to take part in different fire service events/scenarios/activities. The girls work on building confidence, team building, meeting new friends, empowering each other and teaching them to dream big! This is held once a year.

Sweets at the Station
Firefighters pass out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
Help a Family for Thanksgiving
During November, we partner with the Gladiolous Food Pantry and collect non-perishable food to help our neighbors in need.
Christmas Toy Drop-Off
Our stations are drop-off locations for toys during the holidays. The toys go to children in need in our community.
Citizen Life-Saving Award
Presented to Iona residents who help perform life-saving actions in a cardiac event that resulted in saving a life. Recognitions take place at our Board of Fire Commissioners meetings. To nominate someone, please email Community Relations Coordinator Megan Contreras at [email protected].
Virtual Fire Station Visits
Hop on a Zoom call with your IMFD firefighters for a fun, virtual look inside the fire service.
Slow Down - School’s Back in Session!
This program puts firefighters out at busy intersections on the first day of school, first day after a break, etc. They hold banners reminding drivers to slow down and watch out for children.
Dryer Safety Presentations
Discussion on the importance of cleaning out your dryer vents to prevent a house fire.
Post-Fire Pet Adoption Program
This program is to assist families who have lost a pet in a structure fire. The adoption fee through Lee County Domestic Animal Service will be waived when the family is ready for a new pet. The program offer will be valid for one year from the date of the fire. Applicants must also complete a pet adoption application and meet the Lee County Domestic Animal Services adoptions criteria.
