Sending our love to the Fort Myers Fire Department firefighter who was injured tonight while responding to a residential structure fire. This evening the City of Fort Myers Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire where one of our own was injured.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., crews responded to 3830 Arlington St. after multiple reports of smoke and flames coming from a home. Upon arrival, crews went to work ensuring all occupants were safely out of the home and quickly began fire attack. Crews encountered heavy hoarding conditions, which made accessing the seat of the fire difficult.

During operations, one firefighter suffered 1st & 2nd degree burns, and was taken to a local area hospital. He is in stable condition at this time and is being transported to the regional burn center. He is in good spirits, accompanied by his fire and personal family.

Fire was called out at 7:29 p.m. and the State Fire Marshall has been notified for investigation.

Please keep our family member in your thoughts and prayers.

Camp Brave Heart 2024 🩷💜 💪

Camp Brave Heart is our free empowerment camp for girls The camp's objective is to provide young girls with an understanding of the fire service, promote discussions about women's roles in firefighting, foster confidence, teamwork skills, and inspire and empower the participants.

The campers went through physical fitness training, which is an essential component of the
firefighting profession and spent the day interacting with our counselors (made up mainly women) who are firefighters, dispatchers, educators, nurses, and administrative specialists.

Camp Brave Heart is also dedicated to nurturing the self-confidence of the young girls who attend the camp. Our aim is to provide an environment that empowers them to realize their full potential and encourages them to be the best version of themselves, both during their time at camp and beyond by challenging themselves and overcoming fears to name a few.

Today was so inspiring and empowering! We were all extremely impressed with the dedication and determination of our 30 campers who ranged in grades 5th - 7th!

We are already looking forward to next year!

Lee County Utilities has rescinded a precautionary Boil Water Notice to 475 residences in south Fort Myers on Overlook Drive and its adjacent side streets.

Bacterial testing has shown the drinking water is safe and residents may now resume usual use of their water without the need to boil it.

The precautionary notice had been in place since Tuesday, March 12. Utility service was interrupted due to an emergency repair of a fire hydrant and broken valve.
